The reason this quote stuck out to me is because I never really thought about the earth this way. I think a lot of people conform to the idea that each one of us is on our own out here, in the deep emptiness of the Milky Way. We are each our own little planet on a planet, revolving in our lives in and around each other. After seeing this I realized that none of us are really on our own. We all make the planet spin just by existing.
Because we are not all simply a planet in the universe, we are all starstuff, working together on this ship that stubbornly refuses to stop spinning. Even the most downtrodden continue to exist, like the earth itself. Even the hopeless have those they turn to. Even the desperate can hope.
I find that the one thing that scares me more than anything is ending up alone in the world, but this quote gives me hope. Because even if I feel alone, I am a member of this ship. None of us are passengers, we are all crew, and we all exist to keeping the planet spinning.
